Internationally acclaimed photographer and filmmaker Vijay S. Jodha clicks these exquisite photos of the Chhath festival celebrated on the banks of Yamuna in Delhi for Global Bihari readers.
Usha and Pratyusha are worshipped in Sun worship in Chhath Mahaparva. Usha is related to the first rays of sunrise, while Pratyusha is related to the last rays of the setting sun.
Both Usha and Pratyusha were known as ‘The Sixth Maiya’ and the festival was named after the degenerate 6 of Surya Shashti. This is why the Chhathvratis worship the rising and setting sun.
