New Delhi/Pune: Monkeypox virus has reached the national capital! A diagnosis by Pune-based National Institute of Virology (NIV) confirmed Monkeypox in a Delhi resident today.
The patient, a 34-year-old male resident of Delhi is recovering at a designated isolation centre at Delhi’s Lok Nayak Hospital. The close contacts of the case have been identified and are under quarantine as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare guidelines. Further public health interventions like identification of the source of infection, enhanced contact tracing, testing sensitisation of private practitioners etc are being carried out.
Following the confirmation of the outbreak today, the Directorate General of Health Services conducted a high-level review.
