21-year-old Akash, who made his debut in the World Boxing Championship in Belgrade in 54 kg-category, became the 7th male boxer from India to win a medal at the World Boxing Championships. On Thursday November 4, 2021, he lost his semi final bout 5-0 to Kazakh teenager Makhmud Sabyrkhan.
