Ranchi: City-based Usha Martin University has secured an ‘A’ grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a score of 3.17, the highest ever by any university in the Bihar and Jharkhand region, the institution announced today.
A NAAC peer team visited the university from February 19 to 21, 2025, to evaluate its performance across criteria including Curriculum Aspects, Teaching-Learning and Evaluation, Research, Innovations and Extension, Infrastructure and Learning Resources, Student Support and Progression, Governance, Leadership and Management, and Institutional Values and Best Practices. The team assessed academic and administrative departments, interacted with faculty, students, alumni, parents, and staff, and inspected the university’s physical and academic infrastructure, according to university officials.
Established in 2017 with five academic programmes—BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, and Diploma in Engineering—at its Hardag campus, Usha Martin University now operates from a 30-acre permanent campus in Angara, Ranchi. It offers over 30 academic programmes, serving nearly 4,000 students in disciplines such as Management, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Physiotherapy, Paramedical Sciences, Nursing, Engineering, Legal Studies, English, Forensic Sciences, and Journalism and Mass Communication, the university stated.
The university’s faculty has filed 70 patents, with 20 granted, and published 874 research papers and 809 books and chapters, contributing to academia and industry, as per university records. Its Placement and Career Services Cell supports students through skill-building workshops, industry collaborations, internships, and recruitment drives, enabling placements in reputed national and international companies across sectors, the university added.
Usha Martin University’s infrastructure includes an Incubation Centre, modern laboratories, a Central Instrumentation Centre, an Indian Knowledge System Cell, a Central Library, a Polyhouse, a 100 kW solar power plant, a biogas facility, a rainwater harvesting system, a JSCA-affiliated cricket ground, and separate in-campus hostels for boys and girls, according to university officials.
University leaders expressed pride in the achievement. Chancellor Prabhat Kumar, Chairman Hemant Goyal, Pro-Chancellor Prof. S.C. Garg, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Madhulika Kaushik commended the faculty and staff for their dedication. Prof. S.C. Garg stated, “We are excited for the future and committed to scale even greater heights in the years to come.” Prof. Madhulika Kaushik added, “We look forward to becoming an institution of choice for all those desirous of accessing quality higher education at reasonable cost.”
