Masala Pav
Pav, a staple of Mumbai, is one of the most comforting foods consumed in varied forms. A common snack masala pav is a soft and fluffy bread roll topped with butter-spiced tomato, onion and capsicum filling.
Ingredients
(Serving for 3 to 4)
Pav: 6
Onion: 2 finely chopped
Tomato : 3 finely chopped
Capsicum: 1 chopped
Ginger garlic paste: 2 tsp
Cumin seed: 1 tsp
Turmeric powder: 1 tsp
Red chilli powder: 2 tsp
Pav Bhaji Masala: 1 tsp
Butter: 2 tsp
Oil: 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Step 1
Heat oil and butter in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Step 2
To this add the sliced onion and saute until golden brown. Add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell disappears.
Step 3
Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft and mushy. Add the diced capsicum and cook for another couple of minutes.
Step 4
Put red chilli powder, turmeric powder, pav bhaji masala and salt. Cook until masala is well combined and cooked.
Step 5
Add a little water to the mixture and cook until the masala reaches a thick consistency. Stir in the chopped coriander and mix well.
Step 6
Heat a griddle pan. Slice the pav horizontally, apply butter on the inner side, and toast till golden and crispy.
Step 7
Place the toasted pav on the serving plate. Spoon the prepared masala over the pav and enjoy the street-style masala pav.
