Kachalu Chaat
Boiled, thinly sliced and tossed with dry spices and sweet and tangy tamarind chutney, Kachalu Chaat is one of the most loved and popular street foods of Jammu. It is sold in mobile carts or rehri in almost every nook and corner of the city.
Ingredients
(Serving for 2 to 3 persons)
Kachalu : 3 pieces
Lemon juice: ½ tsp
Roasted cumin powder: ¼ tsp
Dry mango (Amchur) powder: ½ tsp
Red chilli powder: ½ tsp
Salt to taste
Tamarind sweet chutney: 2 tsp
Mint leaves to garnish
Step 1
Wash the Arbi (Kachalu) thoroughly and pressure cook for one whistle on high flame. Reduce the heat and let it cook on a medium flame for almost 8 to 10 minutes.
Step 2
Once done take them out. Once cool take off the peel and cut into small pieces.
Step 3
To this add red chilli powder, amchur powder, cumin powder and salt and mix well. Add lemon juice and tamarind chutney.
Step 4
Garnish with mint leaves and enjoy the sweet, spicy and tangy Kachalu chaat.
