Crispy Aloo Tikki Chaat
An integral dish of Indian street food, the crispy aloo tikki chaat is made with boiled potatoes, spices and herbs. The crispy and crunchy patties are served along with yoghurt and chutney and taste amazing with a combination of spicy, sweet and tangy flavours.
Ingredients
For the aloo tikki
Potato: 4 boiled and mashed
Cornflour: 2 tsp
Red chilli powder: 1 tsp
Cumin powder: 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
For chaat
Curd: 1 cup whisked
Tamarind chutney: ½ cup
Mint coriander chutney: ½ cup
Onion: 1 cup finely chopped
Tomato: ½ cup finely chopped
Pomegranate seeds: ¼ cup
Sev: 1 cup
Chat masala for sprinkling
Salt to taste
Step 1
In a large mixing bowl combine the boiled and mashed potatoes with cornflour, red chilli powder, cumin powder, chat masala and salt. Mix well to combine them all.
Step 2
Divide the mixture into equal portions and give them a disc shape.
Step 3
Medium heat oil in a pan. Once hot, carefully place the tikkis in the oil. Fry till they are golden brown and crispy from both the sides. Remove and drain on a paper towel to remove the excess oil.
Step 4
Place the tikkis on a serving plate. Spoon-whisked yoghurt and drizzle tamarind and green chutney over it.
Step 5
Sprinkle the chopped onion, tomato, and pomegranate seeds along with Sev. Top with chat masala and salt for additional flavour. Serve immediately and enjoy. Your home made crispy aloo tikki chaat.
