Bun Nippat Chaat
A unique street-style chaat from Karnataka, Bun Nippat Chaat features a crispy bun nippet, a blend of South Indian flavours and spicy tangy chutney.
Ingredients
(Makes 2 chaat)
Nippet (a crispy fried south Indian snack made with rice flour and spices): 1 cup
Onion: 1 medium finely chopped
Tomato: 1 chopped
Boiled green gram: 2 tsp
Grated coconut: 1 tsp
Raw mango: 1 tsp finely chopped
Sev: 2 tsp
For seasoning
Chaat masala: ½ tsp
Black salt: ¼ tsp
Roasted cumin powder: ½ tsp
Red chilli powder: ½ tsp
Lemon juice: 1 tsp
For the Bun
Bun: 2
Butter: 1 tsp
Step 1
In a mixing bowl add crispy nippet, chopped onion, tomato, boiled potato and boiled green gram.
Step 2
Drizzle tamarind – jaggery chutney, spicy garlic chutney and mint coriander chutney over the mixture. Sprinkle chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, black salt and red chilli powder.
Step 3
Add grated coconut, raw mango, fresh coriander and sev. Mix everything well.
Step 4
Heat butter on a tawa or pan. Sliced the bun into half and lightly toasted them until golden brown.
Step 5
Take a toasted bun and spread a layer of tamarind and mint chutney inside. Stuff the prepared nippet chaat mixture generously into the bun. Press lightly and add some extra sev on top for extra crunch.
Serve immediately while warm with extra chutney on the side.
