Tawa Kolambi Masala Fry
A very simple and easy recipe, tawa kolambi masala fry requires just a handful of ingredients yet tastes amazingly flavourful. It is a very popular dish from the kitchen of Maharashtra where the marinated prawn is tawa fried with flavourful masala mixture. It is traditionally cooked in an iron pan or flat tawa and is served as a starter or often is accompanied with roti or bhakri.
Ingredients
Prawns: 500 gms ( cleaned and deveined)
Onion: 4 diced
Ginger paste: 1 tsp
Garlic paste: 1 tsp
Green chilli: 5
Turmeric powder: 1 tsp
Red chilli powder: 1 tsp
Garam masala powder: 1 tsp
Kokum: 2
Salt as per taste
Oil: 3 tsp
Step 1
Marinate the prawns with turmeric powder, lemon juice and salt.
Step 2
Add oil in a flat tawa and saute onion until translucent. Then add green chilli, ginger garlic paste and stir fry until the raw smell disappears.
Step 3
Put turmeric powder, red chilli powder and garam masala and stir them all together. You can also add Kolhapuri or malvani masala for the authentic flavour. Once the masala has been perfectly roasted add the marinated prawns.
Step 4
Stir fry the prawns with the masala. Next add kokum and salt.
Step 5
Cook for five to seven minutes, they are done. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve them hot.
