New Delhi: Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu has been tested positive for COVID-19. Naidu had gone for a routine COVID-19 test today and was tested positive. A tweet from the Vice President’s Secretariat read: “The Vice President of India who underwent a routine COVID-19 test today morning has been tested positive. He is however, asymptomatic and in good health. He has been advised home quarantine. His wife Smt. Usha Naidu has been tested negative and is in self-isolation.”

Naidu, as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha had chaired the just concluded Monsoon Session of the House, which was adjourned sine die ahead of the schedule after more than 25 members were tested Corona positive.
Incidentally, earlier today while inaugurating the 14th edition of FICCI HEAL on the theme “Post COVID Healthcare- The New Beginning” organised by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Naidu had said:”This pandemic has taught us the overriding importance of staying healthy, both physically and mentally. Fitness coupled with a balanced diet is essential to stave off illness.”
“We must stay vigilant against Corona virus until normalcy returns,” he had said and advised that one should follow the concepts of “Dinacharya” – daily regime and “Ritucharya” – seasonal regime to maintain a healthy life. He had also suggested that Yoga and meditation should become part of daily timetable along with sports in schools and colleges once normalcy returns.
