Salli Boti
The fiery red mutton curry topped with potato sticks is the famous Salli Boti from the Parsi kitchen. Cooked with boneless mutton chunks, Salli Boti is the quintessential dish served at Parsi weddings and other special occasions. It is served along with green chutney, onion ring and hot chapati, paratha or naan.
Ingredients
Mutton chunk : ½ kg
Onion : 2
Tomatoes: 2
Green chilli : 2
Ginger garlic paste: 1 tsp
Chilli powder : 1 tsp
Turmeric powder : ½ tsp
Vinegar : 1 tsp
Jaggery : 1 tsp
Ghee : 2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Step 1
Heat ghee in a thick bottom pan. Fry the chopped onion until golden brown.
Step 2
Add ginger garlic paste, chilli powder, turmeric powder and saute them all together.
Step 3
Add the mutton cubes and stir fry until combined with the rest of the masala. Add chopped green chilli along with tomato and cook them together.
Step 4
Add water as per requirement along with salt and let it come to a boil. Lower the flame and cook it for 30 to 40 minutes or until the mutton is tender.
Step 5
Add jaggery and vinegar and cook it further for seven to eight minutes.
Step 6
Garnish with Sali and coriander leaves and serve hot with any Indian bread of your choice.
