New Delhi: ‘India Khelo Football’ (IKF), a non-profit platform to provide kids from across India with a fair chance to pursue their dream of playing football internationally, is a people-led movement in which football players and football enthusiasts from all over India have come together to develop football at the grass-root level.
IKF has a tagline which says ‘Aap Khelo, Mauka Ham Denge’. This conveys the message that, ‘You give your best, we will give you the opportunity’.
The mission objective is clear – to create a global platform for Indian boys (Under 14) and girls (Under 16) to excel and live their dream of becoming a professional football player. To achieve this goal, IKF will be organizing football tournaments throughout India, where players will be able to show their talents. After the national finale, the selected players will get a chance to go to Europe and will be allowed to showcase their talent in front of the European Clubs. Their expenses will be borne by the sponsors and they will only have to concentrate in their game. IKF’s international partners are ProSoccerGlobal, Palamos FC, and Perfect Football. These international partners and IKF will make sure that the right talent will get the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of European Clubs and stand a chance of signing for a professional contract.
“At IKF we wish to create a very transparent structure to make Football a viable career option which parents can also back,” Paras Mehndiratta, a core team member of IKF who studied sports management in the US, said.
The IKF Delhi Tournament, presented by Max Life Insurance in association with Football Delhi, will be held on March 13 and 14, 2021 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Said Aalok Bhan, director and chief marketing officer, Max Life Insurance: “ We are delighted and proud to associate with India Khelo Football to bring this tournament to Delhi. We hope that this association will help drive greater dialogue among audiences, especially youth with regards to ‘Being Fit, Being Protected and Being Happy’.”
He added: “With the pandemic end in sight, it is now more important than ever for us all to revisit the idea of mindful living. It is essential to nurture communities of tomorrow that are healthy, happy and humane.”
Post the Delhi event there will be multiple tournaments that will take place covering Kanpur, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir in Northern Zone and many more cities from other zones whose dates will be announced based on the local conditions. The best players from each zone will be selected and will be sent to Mumbai for the National Tournament, which will be held in Mumbai on October 15, 2021. After the finale, the top kids who will be handpicked by the international scouts will then travel to Europe to begin their professional football journey.
Saurabh Singh a Delhi division football player states, “This is the kind of opportunity which aspiring football players like us need to dream big and achieve the same at no exorbitant cost. I urge kids from Delhi NCR to take advantage of this golden opportunity and get chance to showcase their skills to European Clubs.”
