New Delhi: A high-level Court of Enquiry has been ordered after an Indian missile was accidentally fired due to a technical malfunction in the course of routine maintenance and landed in an area of Pakistan on March 9, 2022.
Regretting the incident, the Indian Ministry of Defence stated that it was also a matter of relief that there had been no loss of life due to the accident.
Following the accident, Pakistan summoned India’s Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad to convey the protest against India over the mishappening. Pakistan military spokesman Major-General Baba Iftikharon said the flight path of “Indian origin supersonic flying object” endangered Pakistani territory and international and domestic airspace. He claimed it also caused serious damage to civilian property.
According to the Pakistani Major-General, Pakistan continuously monitored the flight path of the object which entered Pakistan from Suratgarh in India at 6:43 pm and fell on the ground at 6:50 pm on March 9, 2022, near Mian Chunnu city.
Pakistan warned India, “be mindful of the unpleasant consequences of such negligence” and urged them to explain the incident and share the information of their investigation into what happened.
