Hyderabad: A case was registered on Swarna Palace Hotel and the Ramesh Hospitals management for death of 10 Covid-19 patients in a fire accident in the early hours of today (Sunday) in Vijayawada.
The hotel had been taken for lease and was converted into a Covid19 Care Centre for treating coronavirus patients.
Giving information about the government action the state health minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas said that there were 31 Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment at the time of the mishap. The state chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the meantime announced a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the families of the deceased.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also expressed grief over the loss of lives due to fire at a Covid Centre in Vijayawada and tweeted: “Anguished by the fire at a Covid Centre in Vijayawada. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover as soon as possible. Discussed the prevailing situation with AP CM @ysjagan Ji and assured all possible support.”
