New Delhi: The Election Commission on Friday stated that the bye-election to the Council of States from Uttar Pradesh to fill up the vacancy caused due to the death of Amar Singh would take place on September 11.
Singh’s term otherwise was upto July 4, 2022.
The Commission announced the following schedule with respect to the by-poll and directed the Uttar Pradesh chief secretary to depute a senior officer from the State to ensure that the extant instructions regarding COVID-19 containment measures were complied with while making arrangements for conducting the election.
