Srinagar: Hundreds of volunteers owing allegiance to a little known Awami Awaz Party gathered at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk – once a hotbed of terrorism – to unfurl the national tricolour on the historic Ghanta Ghar there on the occasion of nation’s 73rd Republic Day celebrations today.
The occasion was festive and there was marked enthusiasm among the people who carried the national flag with them.
Eyewitnesses said this was the biggest ever Republic Day function at the historic Lal Chowk in the Valley.
It is worth mentioning that mostly young faces from different fields in North Kashmir, South Kashmir and Central Kashmir have recently joined hands to float Awami Awaz Party with aim to give youth of Kashmir hope of brighter tomorrow.
In his address the Awami Awaz Party chairman Suheel Ahmad Khan stated:” Today we mark the 73rd republic day of the country with full zeal and enthusiasm. The nation of India has encountered many challenges successfully and is among the top global powers of the world . Awami Awaz Party assures honorable Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi that we would make Kashmir as a jewel of crown for the nation . We would ensure Kashmiru youth mindset moves towards progress and development. I urge my youth of Jammu and Kashmir to take pledge on this republic day to make our country proud on world stage.”
He said that this function was among the most attended functions in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. Syed Irfan Hashmi , the Party General Secretary also greeted the people on the occasion of republic day and expressed his deep happiness that such programme has been conducted in Jammu and Kashmir . He asked youth to toil hard to make Jammu and Kashmir a place of progress .
Meanwhile, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar unfurled the tricolour on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar, while Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha unfurled the tricolour at the Union Territory level function on the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day at Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu this morning. The Lt Governor inspected the parade and took the ceremonial salute.
