Why the South Asians trust this brand?
Muscat: Oman’s first money exchange – Purshottam Kanji Exchange LLC opens three more new branches in the Muscat Governorate – Galleria Mall in Al Hail, Safa Mall in Mabela, and the Golden Dragon Mart, Barka in the Al Batinah region, taking the total number of branches across the Sultanate of Oman to 23.
All three branches were inaugurated by Abdul Aziz Maqbali, Director Of Purshottam Kanji Exchange and Supin James, General Manager of Purshottam Kanji Exchange with staff members, well-wishers and customers attending the occasion. The day-long function at all three different locations was also attended by the Management of Galleria Mall, Al Safa Mall, KM Trading and Golden Dragon Mart.
As Purshottam Kanji Exchange is celebrating the opening of three new branches, the legacy continues with new technology and the newfound strength in serving customers with more efficiency and satisfaction. The 100-year-old brand has lived up to the expectations and has been a key driving force for many expatriates and the Omani populations residing in the Sultanate of Oman.
Purshottam Kanji Exchange has been a part of the community providing service and support, a simple gesture of providing free transactions to health care workers for more than a year as respect. It has become a symbol of commitment towards society, says Supin James, general manager. He added, “We are a people’s brand, and will always remain so. The bedrock of our success as the market leader is our unwavering trust in people, and our resolve to bring the best to our customers. We value relationships highly, and we are in a relationship-driven business”.
Reliability, value-for-money services, accessibility and global connectivity are important virtues in the remittance and exchange business, and Purshottam Kanji checks all boxes when it comes to providing a wholesome experience to customers, mostly from South Asia, in Oman. Ruling the roost as the market leader in remittance, foreign currency exchange and bullion sales and jewellery services, with an extensive network of branches covering the length and breadth of the country, the company has taken customer convenience and experience to a new high with the introduction of online money transfer portal and mobile app. “We are highly focused on improving the service and providing solutions to customers digitally and by being present next to them. This journey is for our customers and for their satisfaction,” says Binoy Simon Varghese, Head of Operations.
History
The hundred-year brand legacy started on a ship from the Kutch region of Gujarat in India, which cut across the Arabian Sea towards Oman, loaded with passengers in search of a new world of opportunities for growth and success. Among them was the young Purshottam Kanji who later redefined the business sphere of Oman.
Having made his fortune dealing in rice, sugar, edible oils and clothing, with the passage of time, Kanji started a small business as a Saraf, exchanging money between Dubai and Muscat, and buying and selling pure 24-carat gold. The rest, as they say, is history. As part of a grand vision to diversify in the exchange field, Purshottam Kanji Exchange Co. LLC came into being in the year 1979.
In the year 1980, the Central Bank of Oman introduced money exchange regulation and Purshottam Kanji was the first company to get a license to pursue money exchange, draft drawing, and buying and selling of gold. Since then, the firm has made rapid strides in the financial, bullion and exchange sectors.
