Guwahati: An earthquake of magnitude:3.8 on Richter Scale, occurred today at 20:18:38 IST, with its epicentre at the depth of 10 km in Bongaigaon region of Assam.
The location of the earthquake was at Latitude :26.24 North and Longitude: 90.51 East.
There has been a number of earthquakes that have hit the north eastern region of the country in the past few months. Experts don’t rule out possibility of a major earthquake in future but that cannot be predicted.

A recent study by the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology had shown that Arunachal Himalaya has been generating moderate earthquakes at two different depths.
