  1. Italy paid tribute to Indian soldiers of the Second World War by unveiling the “V.C Yeshwant Ghadge Sundial Memorial” in Montone. The memorial, in the form of a live sundial, commemorates the Indian troops and Naik Yeshwant Ghadge, Victoria Cross recipient, who fought and sacrificed their lives in the Italian campaign. The motto of the memorial, “Omines Sub Eodem Sole” (We all live under the same sun), reflects the unity and respect for their gallantry. Indian Ambassador Dr. Neena Malhotra and the Mayor of Montone inaugurated the memorial, strengthening the historical connection between Italy and India. Indian soldiers played a significant role in the Italian Campaign, with six Victoria Crosses awarded to them, and this memorial serves as a testament to Italy’s appreciation of their sacrifices. 🇮🇹🇮🇳🌅🏛️🕊️
