Muscat: Piya Prakash Pawani, a model, actress and beauty pageant coach, who is a well-known face of the Muscat fashion industry in Oman, has added one more feather to her colourful career graph by flying to Riyadh, to attend the Riyadh Modest Fashion Week (MFW) as a key speaker, to be held in Saudi Arabia from December 15-17, 2022.
The MFW organized by ‘Think Fashion’, headquartered in Turkey, is dedicated to the modest fashion industry, with two billion media coverage across five continents. The previous seasons of the prestigious MFW were held in picturesque places such as London, Dubai, Istanbul, Amsterdam and Jakarta. This event is a breakthrough for all fashion designers in the region.
“In today’s context, the beauty of a woman is often determined by her choices of dresses; modest fashion is a challenging judgement to determine such beauty standards with dresses that are traditional and not explicit. Fashion is a strong tool to empower women; good dress uplifts the spirit of a woman. I believe in the classical concept of feminism where equal opportunities along with equal rights must be endowed to everyone irrespective of gender,” a beaming Piya told Global Bihari. She is on cloud nine as she will be rubbing shoulders with the world’s top models and sharing a platform with – the who’s who of the fashion industry such as Aya Abdelhakam Hussin from England, Mariam Sheikh from Dubai and Menna Farag from Kuwait for the Talk Show which is moderated by Nouran el Khady of Egypt.
A professional financial analyst with a double MBA in Marketing and Finance from Dubai, Piya has come a long way in her decade-old career, by virtue of being the lone representative from the Sultanate of Oman at the eighth edition of the MFW, being held at the iconic Al Faisaliah Hotel in Riyadh.
She is also and is an excellent orator with an in-depth knowledge of marketing and finance, as well as various aspects of fashion trends. She will be speaking on her pet project, “The Importance of Women Empowerment in Fashion”, a subject very close to her heart. Her styling and outfits will be designed by Omani local designers – Faiza al Balushi for Chiffon style, Hiba al Lawati – Coquette, Riham al Samad, Makeup artist and MellowJ for Modest clothing, reveals Piya.
Having been a runner-up at the Mrs India beauty pageant, representing Oman in 2018, and the title holder at the La Femme Worldwide in 2019, Piya is now a full-time beauty pageant coach, training finalists from India, Oman and Dubai in communication and personality development for various beauty pageants. She is also the winner of ‘The Diva Excellence awards’ in the Social Media category.
Her most prominent clientele includes – Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Aster Royal Hospital, 6th Street, Mumzworld, Mall of Muscat, Danube properties, and Filmfare Middle East.
Piya has been training pageant finalists – married and single women, for portfolio shoots and photoshoots. Her goal is to empower every privileged and underprivileged woman who strives to create a mark in the modelling and fashion industry.
