New Delhi: The legal fraternity under the leadership of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) has hailed the Indian judiciary, particularly the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, for having ushered in a new era of measures aimed at taking justice delivery system to the grassroots.
The SCBAP executives have also conveyed a desire to visit the Supreme Court of India to “acquaint ourselves with the initiatives undertaken by the Supreme Court of India”. During the visit, the SCBAP members would also reciprocate by sharing the experiences of the legal fraternity of Pakistan to such practices.
“We believe that fostering interactions between our legal communities can significantly contribute to improving bilateral relations between the two countries,” the SCBAP Secretary, Muqtedir Akhtar Shabbir, said.
In a letter to the recently-elected president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Senior Advocate Dr. Adish C Aggarwala, the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) president, Barrister Abid S Zuberi, and Secretary, Muqtedir Akhtar Shabbir, said, “SCBAP commends the initiatives undertaken by the Supreme Court of India such as e-filing, judgments in local languages, the development of e-courts and various welfare schemes for lawyers. Similar initiatives have also been introduced by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, including the availability of video link facilities, cause lists on our website, and numerous other measures to enhance at enhancing the ease of access for lawyers.”
Commenting on the letter, Dr. Aggarwala, who is also president of the International Council of Jurists and former Vice Chairman of the Bar Council of India said, “India and its legal fraternity led by the Supreme Court of India have always been in the forefront of positive change to make the justice delivery system more accessible to the common man. The current Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud and other Judges deserve commendation for ushering in new changes to improve the existing systems and make the courts more transparent. We welcome all suggestions, including from the SCBAP, to help us bring in more positive changes.”
Dr. Aggarwala informed that the Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association, today called an “urgent “meeting, which decided to welcome the delegation of the Executive Committee of SCBAP and hoped that their visit would strengthen India-Pakistan relations.
Meanwhile, the SCBAP also congratulated Dr. Aggarwala on behalf of its President and the entire executives for his “resounding victory” in the SCBA elections.

The quest to learn progress and development, needs to be applauded; but with scepticism; because, the visiting delegation, could be selectively informed, shown only the brighter side, meticulously concealing the darker side of the judiciary. I recollect, many years ago, a leading legal luminary, on visit from the U.K. was all praise for the Indian judiciary, this same “Supposedly” gentleman, I later learnt through foreign newspapers, was convicted for fraud, misfeasance. The million dollar question is, who is certifying who as clean and worthy. Something akin to devil quoting scriptures 😂😡😪
