Pandit Rajan Mishra was a great supporter of SPICMACAY’s work
The world of music has lost a gem today in the passing away of Pandit Rajan Mishra of hindustani vocalists Rajan Sajan Mishra Bandhu because of COVID-19. He passed away at around 6.30 in Delhi’s St Stephen hospital where he was admitted. He was 70.
Coming from Benares, settling down in Delhi in the 70s, they popularised Hindustani music in every nook and corner of India and the world.
The brothers had received musical training under their father Hanuman Prasad Mishra, their grandfather’s brother Bade Ram Das Ji Mishra, and their uncle, sarangi virtuoso, Gopal Prasad Mishra.
Honoured, revered, loved by many fans and rasikas, the duo will always remain inseparable in our minds. Pt Rajan Mishra, the elder brother was jovial, smiling, calm, melodious, knowledgeable and we wish him peace in death.
We wish that Sajan ji who always looked up to him will be able to bear this loss of a brother and a partner and his family will be able to deal with this untimely unexpected loss.
A great supporter of SPICMACAY’s work since the beginning, they have touched the lives of many many volunteers and students through their baithaks, lec-dems and concerts. We will miss Pt Rajan Mishra sorely. May his soul find peace.
