Nashik: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today started an 11-day special ritual in the runup to the Pran Pratishtha of Ramlala at the temple in Ayodhya on January 22. 2024.
“This is a huge responsibility. As it is also said in our scriptures, we have to awaken divine consciousness in ourselves for the Yagya and worship of God. For this, fasts and strict rules have been prescribed in the scriptures, which have to be followed before consecration. Therefore, according to the guidance I have received from some pious souls and great men of the spiritual journey and according to the ‘Yama-Niyams’ suggested by them, I am starting a special ritual of 11 days from today,” Modi said.
The question being raised in political circles is whether Modi’s decision is an afterthought given the absence of all four Shankaracharyas – the top spiritual gurus of the Sanatana Dharma – during the inauguration ceremony of the Ram Temple.
The Shankaracharyas of the four Peethas believe as the Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth explained recently, that installing the idol without following the scriptures is not appropriate as it is harmful to the Sanatani public.

Modi asked the nation to get associated with him. “It is my privilege to begin my 11-day observance from the sacred place of Nasik Dham-Panchavati. Panchavati is the holy land where Lord Ram spent a significant amount of time,” he said. He sought the blessings of the people and asked them to share their expressions with him. “We all know the truth that God is ‘nirakar’. But God, even in physical form, strengthens our spiritual journey. I have personally seen and felt that there is a form of God in the people. But when the people who are like God to me express their feelings in words and give blessings, then new energy is infused in me. Today, I need your blessings,” he said.
The Prime Minister alluded to the feeling of Ram Bhakti immersing the whole nation in the run-up to the Pran Pratishtha. Calling this moment a blessing of the almighty, the Prime Minister said “I am overwhelmed with emotions! For the first time in my life, I am going through such feelings, I am experiencing a different feeling of devotion. This emotional journey of my inner self is not an opportunity for expression but for experience. Even though I want to, I am not able to put into words its depth, breadth and intensity. You can also understand my situation very well.”
He added: “The dream that many generations have cherished in their hearts for years as a resolution, I am fortunate to be present at its fulfilment. God has made me a representative of all Indians.”
