New Delhi: After organising the first edition of ‘Anubhav’ series in June 2020, SPIC MACAY is organising its second edition from June 21, 2021 to June 27, 2021. This will be streamed live on SPIC MACAY’s YouTube channel. The series specifically is curated for school and college students from across the globe to engage them in creative arts and crafts from the comfort of their homes owing to the pandemic situation.
“This interactive series is curated with the aim of helping ease the students stress and burden and give them a creative outlet. Registrations are now open at: spicmacay.org/convention/anubhav2021/registration,” Suman Doonga, Media Director of SPICMACAY, said today. She explained that since with COVID-19, the education sector had seen some major roadblocks, also the mental state of youngsters had been affected, the need for value-based, creative and deeply touching elements of arts, yoga, meditation, had been felt much more strongly. “SPIC MACAY Anubhav 2021 is yet another effort in this direction to spread hope and positivity during these difficult times and give the youth as ashram like experience at the comfort of their homes,” she said.
Some renowned artists who will be a part of SPIC MACAY Anubhav are: Vid. Teejan Bai, Ust. Amjad Ali Khan, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Dr. N. Rajam, Pt. Sajan Mishra, Sh. Shyam Benegal, Sh. Shabana Azmi, Sh. Javed Akhtar, Ust. Shahid Parvez Khan, Sh. Aruna Sairam, Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar, Pt. Venkatesh Kumar, Ust. Wasifuddin Dagar, Vid. Geeta Chandran and Sh. Ghanakanta Bora.
For this unique cultural experience, students, their parents and teachers will be given an orientation on the philosophy behind the Anubhav series, importance of following the routine with discipline, as well as an emphasis on holistic food and shramdaan. Selected students will get the opportunity to participate in the virtual workshops under the mentorship of esteemed Gurus.
Elaborating on Anubhav online, a SPIC MACAY press release stated that while sitting at home yet in an ashram-like routine, the participants will get an opportunity to connect with some of the greatest Gurus through various activities like classical music and dance concerts, lecture demonstrations, intensives, workshops, talks, Naad yoga, Hatha Yoga, theatre, cinema classics, folk arts and crafts, cultural heritage and environmental interactions, ultimately establishing a deep chord with Indian and world heritage.
“A normal day during the series will start at 4:00 AM in the morning with a yoga session with senior yoga gurus and meditation session followed by intensives with gurus of different classical art forms, folk forms, and craft. Afternoon session will consist of talks, movie screening, and folk performances. In the evening you will be witnessing great maestros from the field of Indian classical music and dance, respectively. The second last day will have an overnight concert from 9 pm to 6 am IST,” it informed.
It may be mentioned that the pandemic saw SPIC MACAY making an effort to connect the youth with the living legends of classical music, dance, and other folk art forms online. This move came last year in light of the objective to give the youth a holistic exposure of our rich cultural heritage, and provide them with an inspiring experience.
Anubhav 2020 saw a wide participation from students not only from India, but across the world. There were more than 2 lakh registrations for this event. Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi inaugurated this series and admired the work done by SPIC MACAY on June 1, 2020 via an audio-video message.
For the past 44 years, SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) has been working to enrich the quality of formal education among adolescents and youth by raising awareness about various aspects of Indian heritage and motivating young minds to imbibe the values contained therein.
