Mumbai: A Mumbai court today directed police custody for Actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband and businessman Raj Kundra till July 27, 2021 in connection with a case of pornographic content shown through an app.
Kundra along with his aide Ryan Thorpe was arrested on July 18 following a complaint in this regard filed by one Laxmikant Kamat on February 5, 2021. Thorpe was arrested a day later on July 19.
Police told the court about seizure of pornographic images and videos. It reportedly said it recovered 51 clips from the laptop seized of which 31 were those streamed on Hotshots app.
Till now 11 people have been arrested so far. Police said Kundra’s Mumbai-based company, Viaan Industries, was linked to the UK-based Kenrin Pvt Ltd, which was named in the FIR.

Police are investigating if the clips were uploaded on the internet, it said.
A NDTV report said the police also found transactions between a Yes Bank account in Raj Kundra’s name to one in the United Bank of Africa, and suspected that the money from the sale of pornographic content was used for online betting and so far Rs 7.5 crore has been seized.
Kundra’s lawyer Abad Ponda argued that the content seized can come under Section 292 of the Indian Penal Code that pertains to “lascivious” material, he said, adding “no further custody is needed”, said the report.
