Imphal: On his second day of a visit to violence-hit Manipur, where clashes between the Meiti and Kuki tribals claimed several lives and rendered many homeless recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held an all-party meeting here today evening.
Earlier he had wide-ranging discussions with civil society organisations, such as COCOMI, AMUCO, AMOCOC, MMW, STDCM, FOCS, Forum for Restoration of Peace and student organisations. The delegates urged the Union Home Minister for effective intervention to restore peace and normalcy.

The Home Minister reviewed the security situation with senior officials of the Manipur Police, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the Indian Army and instructed the officials to strictly deal with any activities disturbing the peace.
“Peace and prosperity of Manipur is our top priority,” Shah told them.
The Home Minister also had meetings with a group of prominent personalities, intellectuals, retired Army officers and civil servants here today.
He met a delegation of women leaders (Meira Paibis) in Imphal. Reiterating the significance of the role of women in the society of Manipur, he told them about the government’s commitment towards ensuring peace and prosperity in the state.
Shah also visited the most affected Churachandpur and held a meeting with prominent personalities and delegations of the Civil Society Organisations there. He will visit the Moreh and Kangpokpi areas of Manipur tomorrow. He will interact with the delegations of various local groups in Moreh followed by meeting with Civil Society Organisations in Kangpokpi. Later he will hold a security review meeting in Imphal.
