New Delhi: Dodging multilayer security, two men carrying yellow smoke canisters jumped into the chamber of Lok Sabha from the visitors’ gallery, while a woman and another accomplice raised slogans and burst red and yellow canisters outside the Parliament today. The incident happened when Zero Hour of the House was in progress during the Winter Session.
All four were overpowered and arrested under the anti-terror law and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act or UAPA, media reports said, adding that all six persons were involved in the planning and execution of the plot.
The two individuals who jumped into the House one after another from the visitors’ gallery when the Zero Hour of the House was in progress, were identified as Sagar Sharma and D Manoranjan. Their accomplice who created a panic situation outside the Parliament were identified as Neelam Devi and Amol Shinde. Another person believed to be involved in the plot was identified as Vicky Sharma from Gurgaon, and he has also been arrested. Another person has been named as Lalit Jha, at whose Gurgaon home they all stayed.
While the incident coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist attack on Parliament, the Union Home Ministry today formed a panel to probe into the security breach.
Reports suggest that the entry passes for Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan were requested by the Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament from Mysuru Pratap Simha, who claimed that he had no additional information about the intruders. One of the perpetrators, Manoranjay is an engineer from Mysuru. He reportedly approached Simha’s personal assistant to secure the passes for himself and Sagar. According to the news agency PTI, three passes were issued at the behest of Simha but one person, a woman, had to return as she arrived with her child whose name was not mentioned in her pass.
Security experts were quick to attribute a larger design to today’s security breach and some said it could not have been possible with a proper recce.
