Chateauroux: Tokyo Paralympics gold medallist Manish Narwal and Rubina Francis defeated the Chinese pair of Yang Chao and Min Li 17-11 in the title clash of the 10m P6 air pistol mixed team event, to win India’s third gold medal at the World Shooting Para Sport World Cup here today.
Narwal and Francis had entered the final with a world record qualifying score of 565. In the title clash, the Indian pair totalled 274.3. While Narwal scored 138.7 in the final six shots, Francis matched him with 9s, a few 8s and 10.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated Narwal and Francis for winning the Gold and tweeted: “Proud of Manish Narwal and Rubina Francis for winning a Gold in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed event at #Chateauroux2022. Congratulations to them for this special win. Best wishes for their upcoming endeavours.”
Yesterday, Sriharsha Devaraddi Ramakrishna secured a gold medal in the mixed 10m air rifle SH2 event, along with Avani Lekhara, the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic champion. Lekhara won the gold medal in the R2 – women’s 10m air rifle and set a new world record final score of 250.6. In the process, she broke her own world record of 249.6.
