Railways registers growth of 24% in the Reserved Passenger Segment and 197% in the Unreserved Passenger Segment
New Delhi: With COVID-19 restrictions easing up, Indian Railways registered an increase of 92 per cent with total approximate earnings on the originating basis from April 1 to October 8, 2022, in comparison to the earnings during the same period last year. It earned Rs. 33476 crores, in comparison to Rs. 17394 crores during the same period last year, the Ministry of Railways stated here today.
In the reserved passenger segment, the total approximate number of passengers booked during the period April 1 to October 8, 2022, was 42.89 crores as compared to 34.56 crores during the same period last year, showing an increase of 24%. The revenue generated from the reserved passenger segment during the period April 1 to October 8, 2022, was Rs 26961 crores as compared to Rs 16307 crores during the same period last year, showing an increase of 65%.
In the unreserved passenger segment, the total approximate number of passengers booked during the period April 1 to October 8, 2022, was 268.56 crore as compared to 90.57 C=crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 197%. The revenue generated from the unreserved passenger segment during the period April 1 to October 8, 2022, was Rs 6515 crores as compared to Rs 1086 crores during the same period last year, showing an increase of 500 %.

Revenue earnings increasing. However concessions for sr citizen are not restored, eventhough IR restored concessions to other categories. Request honourable railway minister saheb to kindly restore the concessions immediately.
