
New Delhi: Within half an hour of the declaration of ‘ceasefire‘ from 5 pm today, Pakistan took a U-turn, violating Indian airspace with drones and resuming shelling across the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir, including Baramulla and across the international border near Nowshera. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a late-night media briefing today, acknowledged the renewed escalation from Pakistan and the violation of the “understanding between the Director Generals of Military Operations of India and Pakistan”, and said the armed forces gave “adequate and appropriate” response to these violations.
Residents in Baramulla said a huge blast was heard in Pattan in Baramulla.

J&K Minister Satish Sharma confirmed fresh firing being reported at the border. Heavy shelling was reported at several locations in Jammu’s Akhnoor Sector after the ceasefire agreement.
Drones were spotted in Srinagar skies and were promptly neutralised. There were explosions in Srinagar. There was a complete blackout in the city. Drones were spotted and promptly neutralised in other regions from Pathankot to Kutch.
Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah posted videos of drones on X at 9.10 pm today and stated: “This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up.”

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh said that security would be upgraded at technical and scientific installations located in border areas of J&K, Punjab, Chandigarh and the Northwest locations of Rajasthan and Gujarat. In addition, the vital IMD installations in Srinagar and Leh would receive bolstered security. Dr Singh today convened a high-level joint meeting with senior officials and heads of scientific and technical departments to review security preparedness of technical and scientific installations across the country, in the light of the prevailing security situation.
The focus of the meeting was on reviewing the security preparedness of research and scientific facilities, especially in the border and sensitive zones of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Ladakh and the Northwestern region of India.
Dr. Jitendra Singh specifically reviewed preparedness and security mechanisms at CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu; CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO), Chandigarh; CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Jalandhar; CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), Chandigarh; DBT-Biotech Research Innovation Council (BRIC) – National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (NABI), Mohali; Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Installations in Srinagar and other key areas; Earth Sciences Research Stations in Ladakh and surrounding zones.
