New Delhi: The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, presented the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri Awards for the year 2021, at the Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, today.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the Vice President of India, Prime Minister, Union Minister for Home Affairs.
Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, along with cardiologist Dr. Belle Bonappa Hegde, archaelogist Prof. Braj Basi Lal, and sculptor Sudarshan Sahoo, was conferred India’s second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan.
Padma Bhushan award was conferred on former Union Minister from Bihar, Ram Vilas Paswan (posthumous), Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi (posthumous), former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel (posthumous), former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, and bureaucrat Nripendra Mishra, who had served as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
The Padma Shri was awarded to 51 recipients.
