Padma Bhushan for Sudha Murthy, Kumar Mangalam Birla
New Delhi: The Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav has posthumously been conferred the nation’s second highest civilian award – Padma Vibhushan.
Eminent philanthropist Sudha Murthy, who is also the wife of Infosys founder Narayan Murthy and mother-in-law of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, has been conferred the nation’s third highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan. Renowned playback singers Vani Jayaram and Suman Kalyanpuri as well as noted industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla are also among the recipients of this year’s Padma Bhushan Awards.
The President today approved the conferment of 106 Padma Awards including 3 duo cases (in a duo case, the Award is counted as one). The list comprises 6 Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan and 91 Padma Shri Awards. 19 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 2 persons from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and 7 Posthumous awardees.

The President also announced 412 Gallantry Awards and other Defence decorations to Armed Forces personnel and others on the eve of 74th Republic Day, today.
These include six Kirti Chakras, including four posthumous; 15 Shaurya Chakras, including two posthumous; one Bar to Sena Medal (Gallantry); 92 Sena Medals, including four posthumous; one Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) {posthumous}; seven Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry); 29 Param Vishisht Seva Medals; three Uttam Yudh Seva Medals; one Bar to Ati Vishisht Seva Medal; 52 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals; 10 Yudh Seva Medals; four Bar to Sena Medals (Devotion to Duty); 36 Sena Medals (Devotion to Duty); two Bar to Nao Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty) {posthumous}; 11 Nao Sena Medals (Devotion to Duty), including three posthumous; 14 Vayu Sena Medals (Devotion to Duty); two Bar to Vishisht Seva Medal and 126 Vishisht Seva Medals.
