New Delhi: The News Broadcasters and Digital Association (NBDA) has directed Indian news channels to refrain from inviting Pakistani panellists, speakers, and commentators to their programmes following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
In an urgent and confidential advisory issued on May 4, 2025, and endorsed by NBDA Secretary General Annie Joseph, the association urged its members to avoid engaging individuals who undermine India’s sovereignty, integrity, and security.
The advisory cited concerns raised by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting regarding the participation of anti-national commentators from Pakistan, who are seen to propagate false narratives against India in the wake of the Pahalgam attack.
The NBDA, formerly known as the News Broadcasters Association, represents private television news, current affairs, and digital broadcasters in India. It called on editors to exercise stringent editorial discretion to ensure that channels and digital platforms are not misused for anti-India propaganda.
The move comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists.
