BJP releases first list of 27 party candidates
Patna: In a major snub to the Lok Janshakti Party, the ruling National Democratic Alliance in Bihar kept it out of the seat sharing arrangement while arriving at a 50:50 formula for Janata Dal (United) and the Bharatiya Janata Party today. Following the formula, now the BJP will contest 121 seats while the JD(U) will contest 122 out of the total 243 State Assembly seats.
The NDA further reiterated that chief minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar will remain the CM face of the alliance in the elections. Kumar, later told mediapersons that out of the JD(U) quota of 122 seats, seven seats will be given to another alliance partner – Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha (secular). He further informed that the BJP from its quota of 121 seats will accommodate the Vikasshil Insaan Party.

As for the LJP, the friction point was Nitish himself and just about a couple of days back, LJP chief Chirag Paswan had declared that his party would put up candidates against all the JD (U) nominees but would remain an ally of the BJP.
Responding to this, the BJP’s state chief Sanjay Jaiswal had made it clear that “those who will not accept Nitish Kumar’s leadership, would not be a part of NDA in Bihar.”
“Though LJP leader Ram Vilas Paswan (Chirag’s father) is indisposed these days and in hospital but, may I ask, could he go to the Rajya Sabha without any support of the JD(U),” Nitish asked at a crowded press conference here today.
Senior BJP leader and deputy chief minister Sushil Modi, said that if required, “we would write and request the Election Commission also that no other party, except we four — BJP, JD(U), HAM(S) and VIP — should be allowed to use pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during poll.”
However, even as BJP leader reiterated that Nitish would lead the alliance into the poll, Chirag tweeted: “Soon after government formation in Bihar there will be an investigation into corruption in the Saat Nischay (seven resolutions) programme and all guilty will be sent to jail…and pending amount will be released soon so that unfinished work will also be done.” The Saat Nischay programme is Nitish’s an ambitious development programme.
In the meantime, the BJP also released its first list of 27 party candidates for the first phase of elections that also included name of international shooter Shreyasi Singh, who had joined the party on Sunday, from Jamui constituency.
