New Delhi: Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal today said the judges have achieved this position as they led a “very pious and clean life”.
He was speaking at a felicitation event for four Supreme Court judges Justice N. Kotiswar Singh, Justice R. Mahadevan, Justice Manmohan and Justice K. Vinod Chandran, organised by the All India Senior Advocates Association, today.
As the Minister congratulated the newly appointed Supreme Court Judges, Justice Surya Kant said told the gathering, “We endeavour to find the truth in every matter”.

Justice Kant also emphasised the role of the Bar and said the Bar and Bench are two sides of a coin meant for only one goal — quest for justice.
According to Justice Kant, while judges do their best to ensure that no injustice is done to the litigants, equal responsibility also lies with the Bar in providing quality assistance.
“As judges, we do our best to ensure that no injustice is done. But equal responsibility also lies on the Bar, which assists us to provide quality assistance,” he commented. He said India’s “enlightened Bar” was a huge wealth as far as the judiciary was concerned.
“The Bar will continue to contribute and assist us and will be part of the mission and vision to provide affordable justice to the last man standing,” he asserted.
Former Supreme Court Bar Association president Dr. Adish C Aggarwala, who is also Secretary General, All India Senior Advocates Association, vouched that judges of Indian Supreme Court are the “most hardworking judges in the world and that is the reason that the disposal rate in the Indian Supreme Court is the highest in the world”.
Attorney General and All India Senior Advocates Association chairman R Venkataramani, former Law Commission Chairman and Supreme Court Judge Dr. B.S. Chauhan, AISAA President and Member of Parliament P. Wilson, and its Vice President and Member of Parliament Vivek Tankha also spoke at the event.
