New Delhi/Jammu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) was targeting grassroots level democratic exercises in Jammu and Kashmir. He thanked the security forces for defeating terrorist plot of Jaish-e-Mohammad.
The Prime Minister tweeted that “Neutralising of 4 terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed and the presence of large cache of weapons and explosives with them indicates that their efforts to wreak major havoc and destruction have once again been thwarted.”
He added: “Our security forces have once again displayed utmost bravery and professionalism. Thanks to their alertness, they have defeated a nefarious plot to target grassroots level democratic exercises in Jammu and Kashmir.”
The four terrorists were gunned down by security forces in an encounter at Ban toll plaza in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nagrota on Thursday morning. The encounter had started after the security forces intercepted a truck in which the terrorists were hiding at the toll plaza. 11 AK-47s rifles, 3 pistols, 29 grenades & other devices were recovered from them.
The Inspector General of Police of Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, had told mediapersons on Thursday that it was possible that the terrorists were targeting the District Development Council (DDC) elections in the Union Territory. The first phase of the DDC elections for 43 seats is scheduled on November 28, this year.
