Jammu: Within three months the security grid in every area of Jammu would be made impenetrable by further strengthening it, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said as he chaired a high-level security review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, here today.
Shah’s meeting with security agencies at the backdrop of the twin terror attacks in Rajouri district on January 1 and 2, 2023, in which a total of seven civilians including two children were killed. Indian Army had neutralised two terrorists and at least 18 suspects were detained.
He said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Jammu Police will jointly investigate the terrorist incidents that took place in these two days and this investigation will be done keeping together all the incidents that happened in the last one and a half years.
“The people responsible for these terrorist attacks will be brought to book at the earliest and will be dealt with severe punishment. Those responsible for these terrorist incidents will be punished at the earliest,” he asserted.
Today’s meeting was attended by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) Home, Director-General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Commander, Northern Command, Army and Intelligence, and other senior officers of Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) among others.
The Union Home Minister said they had deliberations on all aspects of security and that the support and information systems of terrorist groups were also discussed in detail. “All the agencies have assured to create a complete 360-degree security mechanism,” he noted and asserted that the security agencies of the country were fully prepared to prevent such incidents. He pointed out that compared to the time when the menace of terrorism started in Jammu and Kashmir, there has been the least number of incidents and deaths in recent times. “I assure the citizens of Jammu that whatever may be the intention of the terrorist organizations, our security agencies will be ready to protect Jammu,” he reiterated.
He assured that following the policy of zero tolerance against terrorism, “all security agencies are fighting a decisive battle against terrorism”.
