Jakarta: The Sriwijaya Air flight #SJ182 lost more than 10,000 feet of altitude in less than one minute, about 4 minutes after departure from Jakarta, today. The flight was en route from Jakarta to Pontianak in Indonesia. Search and rescue teams were rushed to the area.
While there was no official confirmation of any crash so far, the airlines confirmed that SJ-182 from Jakarta to Pontianak had lost contact today, Jan 9 2021 at 14:40 local time.
It stated that the aircraft had 6 active crew members, 40 adults, 7 children, 3 babies and six crew members as passengers.
“Our prayers go out to all our passengers and crew and their families,” it said, adding that until now, it continued to coordinate with the relevant authorities and provide all necessary support.
Flight #SJ182 was operated by a Boeing 737-500 “classic” with registration number PK-CLC (MSN 27323). The 26 year old aircraft’s first flight was in May 1994.
