Eilat/New Delhi: Her tweeter profile mentions: “Actor/Model ~ Shine like the whole Universe is yours”. Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu in fact conquered the universe when she was crowned Miss Universe 2021 in Eilat, Israel, on December 12. She was crowned by Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza at a glittering function.
Born on March 3, 2000, the 21-year-old who hails from Chandigarh, has thus become the third woman from India to be crowned Miss Universe after Lara Dutta (2000) and Sushmita Sen (1994), and the first in the last 20 years.
Just before the finals, she had tweeted: “Finally the great day has come! I feel very fortunate to represent my beloved country, have no doubt that I will do my best to get the crown for India, that is the great goal of all, and today one of us will finally be able to fulfill it.”
On her preparations, she posted photos with her gown and tweeted on December 11, “I had a vision for myself when I began my preparations for Miss Universe & one main being my gowns. I couldn’t have asked for a more stunning gown for my preliminary competition at Miss Universe 2021”. She had then thanked her fashion designers Pankaj and Nidhi for making her “look like a star”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated Harnaaz Sandhu on being crowned Miss Universe. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said; “Congratulations to Harnaaz Sandhu on being crowned Miss Universe. Best wishes to her for her future endeavours.”
