US President Donald Trump claimed credit for brokering the truce on Truth Social, citing mediation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye. The ceasefire halts after four consecutive days of violence sparked by the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians, averting fears of nuclear escalation.

The opposition Congress Party’s general secretary, Jairam Ramesh, posted on X, ” In view of the unprecedented announcements from Washington DC, there is now a need, more than ever before, for – 1. The PM to chair an all-party meeting and take political parties into confidence 2. A special session of Parliament to discuss the events of the last eighteen days, beginning with the brutal Pahalgam terror attacks and the way forward, and to demonstrate a collective resolve.”
Commodore Raghu R Nair, said, ” In conclusion, let me reiterate that whilst we will be adhering to the understanding that has been reached today, that is the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force, we remain fully prepared and ever vigilant and committed to defending the sovereignty and integrity of the motherland. Every misadventure by Pakistan has been met with strength, and every future escalation will invite a decisive response. We remain fully operationally ready to launch whatever operations may be required in defence of the nation.”
Earlier today, (May 10, 2025), Pakistan unleashed a barrage of drones and missiles on Indian civilian areas even during daytime, a departure from its earlier strategy of striking during night.
Pakistani artillery shelling in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, killed Raj Kumar Thapa, Additional District Development Commissioner, a revered officer. “He was a true hero in service of the people, especially seen in his deft handling of the Badhaal village incident,” said Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma. Thapa, a JKAS officer and MBBS graduate, was also lauded by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who pledged support to his family.
As Pakistan unleashed a barrage of drones and missiles on Indian civilian areas on 10 May 2025, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, today morning, detailed the destruction of terrorist launchpads near the Line of Control, ensuring minimal collateral damage. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh debunked Pakistan’s claims of hitting India’s S-400 at Adampur, BrahMos base at Nagrota, and airfields, showing intact bases. “Pakistani military continued with its provocations, carrying out aggressive actions employing multiple threat vectors all along the western border. Pakistan employed UCAV, drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions and fighter aircraft to target civilian areas and military infrastructure. Pakistan military also resorted to air intrusions using drones and firing of heavy calibre weapons along the Line of Control,” Wg. Cdr. Vyomika Singh said. Misri condemned Pakistan’s “tissue of lies” and civilian attacks as “execrable”.
Today morning’s developments had painted a grim tableau. Pakistan launched 26 air intrusion attempts from Srinagar to Naliya, targeting airbases at Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, Bhuj, and Bathinda, neutralised with limited damage. Pakistan’s “deplorable” targeting of medical centres and schools in Srinagar, Awantipura, and Udhampur drew sharp condemnation from Qureshi. A high-speed missile fired at a Punjab airbase at 1:40 AM was intercepted. Heavy shelling in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, and Akhnoor killed civilians, including 15 in Poonch (four children) and 18 in Jammu, with 60 injured. Ferozepur’s fields were cratered, and Jalandhar’s Kanganiwal village saw a migrant labourer injured. On May 9, a Pakistani drone struck a house in Ferozepur’s Village Khai Pheme Ke, Punjab, injuring three civilians—Lakhwinder Singh, Sukhwinder Kaur, and Monu Singh—with burn wounds.
India’s precision strikes hit Pakistani airbases (Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Chunian), Pasrur’s radar site, and Sialkot’s aviation base, minimising collateral damage. Pakistan’s false claims of destroying S-400 systems, airfields, and BrahMos bases were debunked with imagery, as were allegations of Indian strikes on Afghanistan and Amritsar Sahib. Pakistan’s misuse of civilian flights from Lahore forced Indian defences to act cautiously. Troop movements suggested escalation, but India remained ready for de-escalation if reciprocated.
In the morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, armed forces chiefs, and senior officials. Thirty-two airports, including Amritsar, Srinagar, and Leh, and 25 Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes were closed until May 15, 2025. Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar’s talks with the United States Secretary of State and Acting National Security Advisor Marco Rubio reaffirmed India’s restraint.
Operation Sindoor, launched May 7, 2025, targeted nine terror camps, killing 100 terrorists, in response to Pahalgam’s tragedy.
