San Francisco: Three people have died from a wildfire burning north of Sacramento in Northern California wildfire. Thousands have been forced to flee from their homes when reports last came in at the time of going to the press today.
Hundreds of miles away from California, in Oregon state too, unprecedented wildfires devastated five small towns, leaving a potentially high death toll in their wake, the state governor said on Wednesday, as initial casualty reports began to surface.
“Ken’s sister lives just north of the California border & their home is completely destroyed by the fire… along with the whole town of Talent, Oregon. They got out safely with their kitty. O my!!!,” commented Beth Plueddemann in social media post.

“I lost everything in the Labor Day (September 7) fire,” said a resident of Malden in Washington county of Oregon.
Meanwhile, California has been hit hard with devastating wildfires and other natural disasters in both the northern and southern parts of the state. More than two dozen fire are raging including three of five largest ever as wildfires burned across parts of California and other western states. The total death toll from California wildfires this year to has reached at least 11.
In California nearly 2.3 million acres burned this year. According to Governor Gavin Newsom, this was “historic”. The fire department here had issued a red flag warning in number of areas throughout the weekend until next week due to gusty winds and low humidity. “This is #CriticalFireWeather so use caution when outdoors,” it has tweeted.
The fire northeast of San Francisco is threatening several communities. The Sacramento fire department stated that, stoked by high winds, wild fire had burned a 40-kilometre path through mountainous terrain and parched foothills. More than 800 acres were burned. It stated while 15 freeway was back open,firefighters are still on scene mopping up the area.
Creek fire northeast of Shaver Lake in Fresno County, had engulfed 166,965 acres. Residents at Fresno said the air quality there was very bad and unhealthy from all the fires. They didn’t think they were in danger except for the smoke. From there the nearest fire was about 50 mi but the smoke was so thick they could not go outside or anywhere.
In El Dorado fire burning at West of Oak Glen in San Bernardino County spread to 12,474 acres and 18% of the area could be contained till report last came in last night. The El Dorado fire had started on Saturday when a firework from a gender reveal party in Yucaipa ignited a blaze. It has has threatened thousands of homes and caused the mandatory evacuation of 21,000 residents.
Further down south, the Valley fire at Cleveland National Forest location, southeast of Alpine in San Diego County was spread in 17,665 acres and 27% of the fire could be contained in the last three days. The fire was impacted by the strong offshore wind event later than forecasted this morning. Due to the fire retardant that was laid down Tuesday, and the strong air support again on Wednesday, resources were successful in keeping the fire from getting established and pushing into more populated areas to the west. Dry conditions was expected to continue with a gradual warming trend through the weekend. Evacuations orders were issued at Lawson Valley, Japatul Valley, Lyons Valley and Carveacre. Evacuations warnings were issued for Pine Valley, Descanso, Alpine, Viejas, Dulzura, Barrett Junction and Potrero.
