New Delhi: The Ministry of Power issued an advisory to ensure maintaining and reliability of the electricity grid during the strike called by the National Convention of Workers from March 28, 2022, to March 30, 2022.
The workers owing allegiance to central trade unions are protesting against “anti-workers, anti-farmers and anti-people” government policies.
The Ministry suggested the following measures for secure and reliable grid operations:
- Reschedule shutdown activities planned from March 28, 2022, to March 29, 2022, to suitable future dates to the extent possible;
- Advised
- All concerned to ensure close supervision of their regional network/control area;
- Reporting to the concerned State Load Dispatch Center/ Regional Load Dispatch Center and National Load Dispatch Center in the event of any contingency.
The Ministry advised all the power utilities such as States, Central Electricity Authority, all Regional Power Committees, Central Public Sector Undertakings, National Load Dispatch Center, Regional Load Dispatch Center to take necessary measures to ensure round the clock normal functioning of the electricity Grid and availability of all plants, transmission lines, and substations.
A Ministry of Power press note stated today that additional manpower may be deployed at all critical sub-stations/power stations 24X7 to handle any emergency conditions. It stated that the healthiness of data and voice communication between the identified sub-stations/ power stations and their corresponding SLDC/RLDCs may be ensured. It also called for ensuring power supply to essential services such as hospitals, defence, railways, and asked all regional/state control room executives to be vigilant and on high alert. It also asked a 24×7 Control Room to be made functional for information dissemination and for handling any kind of contingency.
