Muscat: Since 2018, Oman-based Global Money Exchange Company ((GMEC) has benefitted over 10,000 Indian expats annually from its branches by renewing and issuing Indian passports to them.
Now GMEC extends attestation services on behalf of the Embassy of India in Oman at its select branches.
Announcing this, KS Subromoniyan, managing director of the Exchange, told media persons here today that the GMEC would also exclusively offer the Kerala Welfare Pravasi Fund, a facility of the Kerala government extended to the expatriates hailing from the South Indian state. Global Money Exchange Company LLC was established with a single branch in the year 2002 and within two decades it has attained the number one position with 63 branches and is the only Money Exchange with its presence in all four airports of Oman – Muscat, Sohar, Salalah and Duqm – and also at the Sea – Port Sultan Qaboos, Muttrah.
“As part of our CSR activities we have seen that our presence is also in the far remotest place with a minuscule population of expats, as people do not have to travel far to send their hard-earned money to their near and dear ones,” Amit Talukder, general manager, GMEC, said.
GMEC is known for the best rates and fastest remittance services, said R. Madhoosudanan, Advisor to Board, adding, that it has direct banking arrangements with more than 35 banks in several countries. The services of popular international money transfer agents are also available.
“Global Freedom, our online transfer facility, is widely accepted by customers. Very soon the company will launch a new mobile application with more features in place of the existing mobile app,” he added.
The branches of GMEC deal in all major currencies of the world, said, Muhammad Usman, Marketing Manager, and added, that, “We have a Wholesale Currency Division and hence currencies are bought and sold at competitive rates.”
