Hyderabad: Eleven migrant workers were burnt alive in Bhoiguda locality of the city today. The workers were asleep when the fire started on the first floor of the scrap godown at around 3 am.
Twelve people were sleeping and only one person could survive as he broke a window in order to escape and he was rushed to the Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad. People who were burnt alive in accident were mostly from Bihar
Around nine fire tender were reportedly rushed to the accident site to douse the fire. However, the reason for the fire could be suspected as a short circuit but it is yet to be ascertained. According to Eye witness account, The dead bodies were burnt beyond recognition. Team of experts would conduct DNA tests of each victim before their bodies were handed over to the family members for last rites after autopsy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao condoled the death of 11 migrant workers in a fire accident. The Prime Minister has also approved an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) which would be given to the next of kin of the deceased. He tweeted, “Pained by the loss of lives due to a tragic fire in Bhoiguda, Hyderabad. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of the \ deceased.”
Chief Minister announced ₹5 lakh ex-gratia to the family of every victim and directed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to make sure that the mortal remains of the victims are sent to Bihar after post mortem.
