New Delhi: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted the first successful flight test of an indigenously developed Agni-5 missile, named ‘Mission Divyastra’. The missile is equipped with cutting-edge Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology.
The flight test was carried out from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. Various Telemetry and radar stations tracked and monitored multiple re-entry vehicles. The Mission accomplished the designed parameters.
The Vice-President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, extended his congratulations on the success of ‘Mission Divyastra’ and stated that this “phenomenal” achievement by DRDO was “well in sync” with India’s overall growth trajectory.
“The first flight test of Agni-5 missile with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology is a testament to India’s indigenous defence capabilities and innovative spirit,” he stated.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi lauded the efforts of the DRDO scientists who participated in the conduct of the complex mission. In a post on social media platform X, Modi said he was proud of the DRDO scientists for Mission Divyastra.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also congratulated the scientists and the entire team, terming it as an exceptional success.
