New Delhi: With both sides sticking to their guns, the eighth round of talks between the farmers ended in yet again without any tangible decision, here on Friday. The next round of meeting though is now decided to be held on January 15, 2021.
Watch the video clip of a farmer leader making his point before the government in today’s meeting:
The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Rail Minister Piyush Goyal from the Government’s side. The agitating Sanyukta Kisan Morcha leaders reiterated their demand of complete withdrawal of all three new farm laws. However, the Agriculture Minister, while making an appeal to the farmer leaders to take back their agitation, said it was important to take care of the nation too – “Desh ka dhyaan rakhna bhi zaroori hai.”
The farmers even raised a banner in Punjabi at the meeting that said: “We will either die or win.”
The farmer leaders told the ministers that they were not any political party and they will relent only after the Acts were revoked — “Bill wapasi, ghar wapasi”.
Talking to globalbihari.com, farmer leader Dharmendra Malik said the protest will continue.
