Mumbai: The law point the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) counsel presented at the trial court against actress Kangana Ranaut was that their detection of the illegal construction in her flat was on September 5 took place at 1 p.m. whereas the war of words between the actress and Raut took place on the same day evening at 5 p.m. It was further stated by the civic authority that when the actress premise was being inspected on September 7, it was found that illegal alterations were still going on.
While counsel for Kangana argued on the lines that the civic authority was being vindictive about the actress spat with the actress, the clarification from Raut in his affidavit stated that he had not abused the actress. He had only pointed out that her speaking out against Mumbai and Maharashtra was an act of dishonesty.
Originally, Kangana had sought only a stay on the demolition in her court petition. The court subsequently permitted the actress to amend her petition and seek Rs. 2 crore. The actress’ counsel argued that 24-hour notice was illegal and the partial demolition was carried out despite Kangana having responded to the notice.
After hearing both sides on Monday, the court observed that had the BMC acted with similar efficiency and swiftness in all such cases, Mumbai would have had a different landscape. The court later concluded saying both sides have to file written submissions.
