Lucknow: A CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) special court acquitted all the thirty-two accused persons in the 28-year-old Babri mosque demolition case, on Wednesday. 17 of the 48 accused persons in this case have already died since. Senior BJP leaders, including L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, and Kalyan Singh were among the accused.
While delivering the verdict, Special Judge (CBI) S K Yadav said that the demolition of the mosque at Ayodhya was not pre-planned, it happened at the spur of the moment, and that there was no conclusive proof against the accused.
In course of the trial, the CBI, had produced 351 witnesses and 600 documents as evidence before the court.
It may be recalled that the disputed Babri mosque structure was demolished by thousands of Kar Sevaks in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992. The incident had sparked unprecedented communal riots across the country that killed some 2,000 people.
In November last year, the Supreme Court had called the demolition of the Babri mosque illegal and in violation of law.
Today Security was tightened around Special CBI court before the verdict. After the verdict was delivered, Advani “wholeheartedly” welcomed the judgement and said it vindicated his personal and BJP’s belief and commitment toward the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

Welcome decision and a new page will begin in the history of BJP. Advani who couldn’t become country’s President as the case was dangling on his head. Now he is a free man though age is not in his side but this decision will act like a Sanjeevani and could rejuvenate his spirits.
It would be interesting to watch his moves as Modi and his IT Cell may not like as the PM wants to project himself as sole powerful leader.
Interestingly the over active IT Cell of BJP is mum and not seen on the Social Media.
