Modi expresses grief over the crash of the passenger flight MU5735
Beijing/New Delhi: A 7-year old Boeing 737-800 passenger plane with 132 persons including 123 passengers and 9 crew members on board crashed in Teng County in Guangxi while flying from Kunming to Guangzhou, around 2:20 p.m. (local time) today, flight data indicated.
The number of casualties is yet to be ascertained.
Flight MU 5735, was operated by China Eastern Airlines and it abruptly lost altitude. Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged the rescuers to “handle the aftermath in a proper manner.”
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi too expressed deep grief over the crash of the passenger flight.
“Deeply shocked and saddened to learn about the crash of the passenger flight MU5735 with 132 onboard in China’s Guangxi. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the crash and their family members,” Modi tweeted.
