New Delhi: The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today approved the disbursement of an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, effective from January 1, 2025.
This adjustment represents a 2 per cent increase over the current rate of 53 per cent of Basic Pay/Pension, aimed at offsetting the effects of inflation.
The total financial impact on the government due to the rise in both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief is estimated to be Rs. 6,614.04 crore annually. This decision will benefit approximately 48.66 lakh Central Government employees and 66.55 lakh pensioners.
This adjustment aligns with the established formula based on the recommendations from the 7th Central Pay Commission.
